Substrate

Sterilized substrate provides the nutritional foundation for successful mushroom cultivation. Mushrooms grow by digesting organic materials such as grains, agricultural byproducts, and plant fibers.

Before inoculation with mycelium, substrates are sterilized to eliminate competing microorganisms. This ensures that the fungal culture can colonize the material without interference from bacteria or mold.

Once inoculated, the mycelium spreads throughout the substrate, breaking down nutrients and forming a dense fungal network. Under the right environmental conditions, this network eventually produces mushroom fruiting bodies.

Milieu Mushrooms sterilized substrates are prepared to support clean colonization and reliable mushroom growth.
